Cool Earth, in a nutshell, creates schools, clinics and businesses for rainforest communities so they can better protect the forests from destruction.
The communities are reliant on the forests, which give them low impact livelihoods, and have most to lose when the bulldozers (yup, that really happens) come in to rip them up.
Over the last 40 years, half the world’s rainforests have been destroyed. Half.
Cool Earth is now working alongside 116 rainforest villages throughout the world.
These partner villages are protecting over 600,000 acres of forest that lie directly in the path of chainsaws and bulldozers.
The clever part is that this forest is forming a shield to make the neighbouring forest inaccessible to loggers – saving millions of acres of further forest.
Canny. Leap has yelled excitedly about Cool Earth’s work to our clients as part of our work with them: and as a result, to date, we and our clients are now actively protecting over 300 acres of rainforest.
That’s such an easy way for us as a design studio to make work that matters.
