Inside Our Studio Designs | Food & Drink

posh pasty print material

Being Cornish, we can’t help but be natural foodies – what with the county producing some of the best food in the UK (not that we’re biased, but nothing can beat a traditional Cornish pasty)!

So it comes as no surprise, with a reputation so good, that every year thousands of folk flee from across the nation to dine at Cornwall’s michelin star restaurants and cosy countryside cafes.

As a result, relying heavily on our Cornish tourism, those in the hospitality sector are ensuring their hotel, restaurant or bar is the place to visit in Cornwall to pull in the punters, as well as attracting and building solid relationships with local customers.

And this is where Leap come in

We’ve been lucky enough to collaborate on a number of juicy creative projects with many Cornish businesses – including some of the top places to eat in Cornwall – helping them stand out from the crowd with our skills in the following…

  • sustainable design for print
  • website design
  • web development
  • green website hosting
  • branding (including logo design)
  • strategy
  • purpose & story
  • consultancy

A few of our foodie clients and what we did to help

Tatams | Branding, Logo Design, Signage

Located in picturesque coastal village Portscatho, Tatams sea bar and takeaway is the coolest spot to sit, watch waves and drink a freshly-ground cup of Olfactory coffee.  And what makes it even cooler… the hidden hut was made from a converted public toilet, not that you would of guessed by looking at the huts stylish interior.

Just opposite the coffee hut is the Taverna, a spot where visitors can indulge in a wide selection of delicious stone-baked pizzas with the option to takeaway or sit in (gluten and vegan options available).

Tatams came to Leap looking for a logo design and some super awesome signage for their grand opening. As always, being a planet conscious business we sourced local recycled materials to create our design like we do for all our signage jobs. For Tatams, their sign was made from recycled laser cut FSC birch ply (thanks to Cut By Beam for their laser cutting skills). Both parties were happy with the end result, and a few years on since their opening, the sign is still going strong on the Tatams hut.

Sam’s Cornwall | Branding, Logo Design, Web Design, Green Website Hosting, Print Design,  Sign Design

Best known for their good food, good places and good people, Sam’s Cornwall serves up a soulful, Rock ‘N’ Roll dining experience in and around popular Cornish hotspots. Be it food by the beach, or a meal in a thriving city – Sam’s caters for all preferences (probably why they’re award-winning)!

From initially talking to the team at Sam’s, it was evident that there a huge amount of passion and family history behind the brand. With this said, instead of fully re-branding what was already a strong brand identity, we provided Sam’s with a dose full of creative direction, focusing on design to aid business expansion opportunities.

Apart of our creative suggestions was making some small strategic changes to the pre-existing logo. Once logo changes were signed off, it was easy for us then to get creative with the restaurants print materials, giving the Sam’s menu, business cards, labels and wallpaper a new ‘Samstyle’ way of life look (all sustainably designed of course).

And we didn’t stop at print. To fully adapt Sam’s newly revitalised brand, we used our studio skills in web design and development to help with the restaurants digital presence, providing them with a new website and setting them up on our green hosting service –  a site that serves the people and saves the planet! Why not give their website a visit? And whilst you’re there, decide which Sam’s restaurant you’d most like to dine in!

Hanoi Naturally | Branding, Logo Design, Illustration, Print Design

Being a Cornish business, does not mean we are limited to Cornish clients. Although we love working locally, it’s not uncommon for our studio to attract clients from across the UK and even further afield.

Healthy eating Vietnamese restaurant Hanoi Naturally, serving authentic Vietnamese food in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, is one of our amazing clients from across the globe.

The first part of our overseas collaboration consisted of re-designing the restaurants logo, in which we – for the first time ever – incorporated both English and Arabic translations into the design.

This then naturally followed with a combination of both basic and more in-depth design work.

Basic: eco-friendly business cards, menus and letterheads (all printed on recycled FSC certified paper).

More in-depth: illustrations, uniform design and interior concepts.

This was an exciting opportunity for the studio to work with a client thousands of miles away (communicating a lot through emails and skype calls) as well as exploring and experiencing different cultural designs avenues.
