Pentewan Sands is an independantly owned family holiday park right on the beach on the south coast of Cornwall. They had a very outdated website that was looking very tired and not reflecting the bright and contemporary atmosphere of the park. Leap had already been working on some marketing material for the client and in early 2014, we were also asked to tender against other design companies to create a new website.
We were awarded the project on the strength of our willingness to work collaboratively with the client and in particular because of our unique approach in facilitating a ‘cafe testing’ session as part of the process. This is an important stage for gathering real customer feedback and allows LEAP to be truly agile in our approach by building in a wire framing and prototyping stage that allowed the client to test the designs and move onto full development stage with confidence.
One of the very first things LEAP do is to ask our clients to fill out a WEB brief, which covers a whole range of points about the company, the brand, the target market, tone of voice, aspirations etc, etc. This then becomes the baseline for our working brief for the project.
Our initial concept stage involved detailed briefing sessions where we focused on the info from the WEB brief with the client after which LEAP created mood boards for visual direction. These then dictated the style of layout, colour, imagery etc that we used to present our initial webpage designs.
As the brief was so thoroughly written and prepared we managed to nail the concept layouts quite rapidly. And moved onto developing a working online prototype. We then arranged a market research session at a local cafe. A team from LEAP along with the Marketing Manager gathered info and comments via a specially prepared feedback form in exchange for a free cup of coffee. 100% of those asked to take part in the informal survey were happy to help and the impression of the new website design was positive.
We moved to coding and responsive development. Integrating the new site with the client’s existing booking system. We built the site within a dependable CMS and after conducting client training we soft launched the site prior to the all important Christmas period. Hosting was handled on our Carbon Neutral web servers via Wunderism.
Customer reponse has been very positive with all-important bookings being made on the very first day of launch and stats show that already within a very short period of being live the new site is attracting an increased number of visits.
