As many of you know here at Leap we are do’ers and DO everything in our power to use our tools as creatives to make positive change through design.
We also believe in re-inventing business. Being a business for good, we share the values of creating a more sustainable, fruitful future through innovation and collaboration to benefit the triple bottom line (people, planet, profit).
Combining both do-ing for good and practising what success means to us at the studio and bench marking that success, we have been recognised as one of the UK’s leading businesses for change after increasing our B Corp score from 103 in 2016 to 112.4 as part of recertification.
“We’re so proud to continue being part of this positive and ever growing community of business as a force for good in the UK. It means that as a thoughtful design studio we’ve done even more over the last two years to make a positive difference to people and the planet with true triple bottom line growth.” – Matt Hocking | Studio Director
How does the point scoring work?
If you’re not familiar with B Corp or how it works, you might be thinking what is a B Corp score? To put in short, businesses that want to achieve B Corporation certification must achieve the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. So to certify, businesses must score over 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, a free online platform to evaluate your company’s impact on your workers, community, environment, and customers.
But regardless of the numbers, being certified is a huge success alone whether a business scores 80 or 100 points. The way we look at it at Leap, being apart of B Corp has been fundamental to us for measuring what matters and by doing the impact report businesses can focus and adapt on different areas of the business with the ability to increase their overall scores.
And we haven’t just stopped with our own studio – in order to help businesses in Cornwall go through the accreditation process, our Director Matt has recently qualified as a B Leader and is now consulting for a number of Cornish businesses to take them through the certification process.
“It’s really exciting that more businesses in Cornwall are looking to join B Corp and it’s great that I can actively to help them get ready for accreditation and share our own knowledge of the certification.” – Matt Hocking | Studio Director
First we were recognised as one of the UK’s leading businesses for change, followed by winning ‘Sustainable Business of the Year’ at this years Cornwall business Awards – may we forever continue our design for change mission with the support of our amazing team, clients, associates and B Corp community in Cornwall and further afield.
If you missed it in the news, Business Cornwall recently shared our recertification here.
