Vacancy: Technical web support

Full-time | Truro-based (hybrid, 3 days a week in the studio)

We’re looking for someone practical, patient and tech-minded to join LEAP as our new Website & tech support. It’s a full-time, permanent role for someone who’s comfortable keeping websites running smoothly and helping the team solve everyday tech niggles as they crop up.

You’ll lead on our website maintenance and care packages – making sure client sites are healthy, secure and performing well. You’ll also support the wider digital team across WordPress builds, hosting, performance and launches, and be the go-to person for day-to-day studio IT support. If you like variety in your day and you’re keen to grow your skills in a creative, purpose-led environment, this could be a great fit.

What you’ll be doing

Keeping websites healthy

  • Updating PHP, WordPress core, themes and plugins
  • Monitoring site performance, security and uptime
  • Updating site content (text, images, portfolio pieces, news)
  • Making small design tweaks and layout adjustments
  • Troubleshooting bugs and compatibility issues
  • Running security checks and applying patches
  • Optimising website speed and performance
  • Managing hosting setups and domain registrations
  • Setting up staging sites and managing backups

Supporting new builds and launches

  • Working with lead developers from briefing to launch
  • Setting up hosting environments for new projects
  • Managing Git repositories and version control
  • Handling DNS updates and SSL certificates
  • Helping test sites and prep for go-live
  • Coordinating smooth handovers from external developers

Helping the studio run smoothly

  • First-line IT support for the team (Mac and Windows)
  • Helping with software installs, logins and general troubleshooting
  • Keeping equipment and access sorted for new and existing team members
  • Supporting data security and good digital housekeeping

What we’re looking for

A good grasp of

  • PHP, WordPress, HTML, CSS and some JavaScript
  • Git and repository tools like Bitbucket, GitHub or GitLab
  • Hosting accounts, server environments and FTP/SFTP
  • DNS, SSL certificates and general web security best practice

And someone who’s

  • Patient, approachable and good with people
  • Proactive about spotting issues before they become problems
  • Comfortable learning new tools and tech
  • Calm when things get a bit frantic (launch days happen)
  • Happy working across different tasks and switching between them
